The SMART GRID ENGINNER III/Senior provides technical engineering, design, economic and analytical support to participate in the development of long-range system plans and conducting of engineering requests, proposals and presentations.

Responsibilities
  • Performs engineering tasks requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis.
  • Has increasing responsibility for technical decisions and interpretations.
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to others as needed.
  • May be subject to shift work.
Qualifications
  • IA four-year Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions
  • or a four year Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution plus eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related position
  • Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or

    Qualification:
    • Problem analysis/resolution techniques
    • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline
    • Professional Engineer license
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
    • Understanding of the application of control theory for electric grid operation and automation
    • Experience with creating settings, message layouts, and/or control templates for distribution, substation, and/or transmission equipment controller
    • Familiarity with reliability and/or power quality technology, i.e. voltage regulators, capacitor banks, line sensors, reclosers / supervisory switches, grid edge dynamic VAR control apparatuses, control/relay panels for various substation devices, and other SCADA controlled devices
    • Working knowledge of load management, distribution operations, and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)
    • Training and assisting with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems
    • Mentor and develop professional staff
    • Experience with Power Base, CYME, SEL AcSelerator, CAPE, and ADMS
    • Knowledge on performing short circuit analysis, coordination studies and load flow
