Overview

The Process Engineer will develop and optimize economical industrial processes to meet the needs of modern society. Responsibilities include designing equipment, understanding chemical and biochemical reactions, installing control systems, and running and upgrading processes with a focus on environmental protection, health and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain eRecipes, process work instructions, SOPs, etc. as necessary to support production workload.
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate production tooling (fixtures, baskets, etc.) required for efficient, effective part processing.
  • Monitor and maintain production equipment (tanks, pumps, heaters, etc.) and participate in equipment replacement/specification efforts as required.
  • Ensure compliance with existing operating procedures and recommend revisions as appropriate.
  • Monitor effectiveness of production processes and support problem resolution related to technical evaluation of parts processed.
  • Monitor compliance with the material specification database for process materials (chemistry, gases, blast media, etc.).
  • Monitor and maintain process controls (pressures, temperatures, concentration, contamination, etc.) through SPC. Ensure that process measurements fall within the control limits and the overall process CPKs comply with the divisional limits.
  • Maintain and monitor work environments to ensure they are adequate for the tasks being performed, preserve safe work practices, and meet housekeeping requirements.
  • Develop and assist in development of training materials, examinations, agendas, and schedules required for personnel training and certification.
  • Participate in customer audits, complaint resolution, cost analysis/time study as they relate to sales and marketing efforts.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, CAPA resolution, defect/problem analysis, preventive actions, etc.
  • Participate in established committees (technical, safety, environmental, etc.) as assigned.
  • Supervise site monthly qualification cleanliness testing and process controls to ensure results fall between specification limits.
  • Liaise with Engineering Manager or System Engineering Group to ensure effective procedures and KM’s are implemented at the sites.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Assess processes for relevance and adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Review existing data (including lab analysis) to determine if additional research is required.
  • Design, install and commission new production units; monitor modifications and upgrades; troubleshoot existing processes.
  • Conduct process development experiments to scale in a laboratory environment as directed by the Director of R&D.
  • Prepare reports, flow diagrams and charts.
  • Work closely with other engineers to monitor and improve plant efficiency, output and safety.
  • Ensure processes run at optimum level, at the right rate and quality to meet customer needs.
  • Collaborate with specialists (scientists, plant maintenance engineers, commercial colleagues, operating crew) to achieve product specifications and production schedules.
Educational/Certification Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with at least two years of experience in semiconductor processing or systems manufacturing.
Experience Requirement
  • 2‑5 years of related experience in high‑technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
