Civil Project Engineer

• Liaises and co‑ordinates with the client, project manager and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
• Manages and co‑ordinates with external consultants.
• Manages the time schedule, cost, quality and scope on all civil and structural contracts of the project.
• Manages civil and structural site supervisors to ensure that civil and structural contractors perform to project safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Effectively utilizes company resources.
• Accurately marks‑up designs for drafting personnel.
• Ensures quality standards are adhered to by checking accuracy of work before it gets issued.
• Advises, monitors and controls all civil and structural site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site Project Manager.
• Assures the client and project manager that the design, construction, testing and commissioning of a Civil and structural installation, under his/her charge, complies with all safety and statutory requirements.
• Acts within the framework of civil and structural contracts under his/her management.
• Manages high level of risks within projects relating to engineering processes, systems, equipment and infrastructure.
• Prepares engineering proposals, estimates and budgets for civil, concrete and structural works.
• Oversees the design of civil works (excavation, embankments, roads, culverts, buried services, structural concrete foundations work, structure works such as buildings and equipment support).
• Produces and signs off on drawings for construction.
• Drafts scope of work documentation for civil and structural concrete work.
• Deals with municipalities, agencies, contractors, and owners.
• Reviews civil and structural drawings, advising on aspects of design and constructability.
• Involves procurement of civil and structural requirements and site contracts.
• Reviews and advises on on‑site construction and solves all technical problems.
• Performs regular inspections and follow‑up with civil and structural personnel on site.
• Compiles civil and structural sections of reports.
• Provides civil and structural input for various phases of studies.
• Initialises establishment of civil and structural personnel on site and commissions civil work.
• Ensures that all civil and structural work follows the initial plan.

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a multi‑disciplinary EPCM environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Experience in 3D design of infrastructure in mining and plant operations.
• Registered Engineer.
