Structural Analysis Engineer – Aero Engines Externals
LocationPhoenix, AZ – Onsite work only

Responsibilities- Execute stress analysis projects of aero engine components (rotors, cases, stators, externals) and/or auxiliary power unit (APU) using ANSYS‑APDL or Workbench independently.
- Work with offshore and global teams to understand project scope, including analysis domain, boundary conditions, material models and type of analysis.
- Act as coordinator for multiple groups (design, aerodynamics and structures teams) to provide project‑specific inputs.
- Work autonomously and prioritize multiple projects.
- Review technical presentations, interpret the results and present them to the customer.
- Handle design and technical discipline reviews.
- Ensure 100% quality and on‑time delivery.
- Conduct project review meetings to share lessons learned and best practices to improve quality.
- Provide alternative solutions for field issues.
- Drive process improvements by developing automation tools.
- Work on complex CAE problems to assist product development.
- Prepare technical proposals and business cases for new process improvement areas.
- Perform design modifications as needed and validate them with FEA.
- Demonstrate excellent technical, project management, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in stress analysis of aero engine components using commercial FEA tools.
- Expertise in ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Workbench, Hyper Mesh or similar structural analysis tools.
- 2D and 3D finite‑element modeling of simple, moderate and complex components (hexahedral & tetrahedral elements).
- Experience with linear and nonlinear static stress analysis.
- Experience with modal, harmonic and transient dynamic stress analysis.
- Knowledge of strength, stability and durability of components.
- Damage‑tolerance analysis to estimate fracture life.
- Ability to develop/modify APDL macros.
- Ability to build and update FE models in Hyper Mesh.
- Experience in scripting using Matlab, VB, TCL/Tk or Python.
- Knowledge of hand calculations, standards and design codes.
- Basic knowledge of CAD tools.
