Senior Transmission Line Engineer - Grid

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement—three days a week in the office and two days remote.

It provides the opportunity to apply and expand knowledge in transmission line engineering, including conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles.

• Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range.
• Perform cost analyses, develop design criteria, route and sit transmission lines.
• Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
• Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Direct a small project team.

• Work with experienced engineers and mentor less experienced staff.
• Collaborate with a diverse client base and cross‑functional project teams.
• Travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.

• Degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software to review transmission line models.
• 7 or more years of experience on project teams, managing schedules and budgets for diverse transmission assignments.
• Knowledge of right‑of‑way requirements, conductor sag/tension calculations, and construction documentation.
• Experience with design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and models.
• Ability to write and support engineering calculation documentation.
• Familiarity with design codes such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

• Current PE license or ability to obtain one within one year.
• Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Experience with scheduling.
• Proficiency with PLS‑TOWER, SAG
  10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, or Micro Station.
