Job DescriptionPosition: SPED SUN Kids Preschool Teacher

Reports To: Site Administrator
Responsibilities- Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc., for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
- Administers, under supervision, first aid and assistance to medically fragile children (e.g., tube feeding, toileting, diapering) for the purpose of providing appropriate care for children as assigned.
- Advices parents/guardians on student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and developing methods for improvement.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g., behavioral, motor development, communication skills, academic needs) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and community resources to improve student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
- Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving, and personal issues.
- Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners and address individual student requirements.
- Differentiates classroom work to address individualized learning programs.
- Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers and/or student workers to support an effective classroom program.
- Instructs students to improve success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
- Maintains confidential and non-confidential files and records for up-to-date reference and compliance with guidelines.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitors students in various educational environments (classroom, playground, field trips, nap times, etc.) for safety and positive learning experiences.
- Orders supplies and equipment to ensure availability as needed.
- Participates in meetings (e.g., IEPs, staff) to convey and gather information needed to perform functions.
- Participates on PLC team to review data and instructional practices.
- Prepares written materials (e.g., attendance, anecdotal records, IEPs) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Reports health and safety issues to the assigned administrator and appropriate agencies for student safety and compliance with regulations.
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Serves as case manager for special education students to manage IEPs in accordance with guidelines and legal requirements.
- Supports classroom teachers in implementing established curriculum and individual student plans.
Education
:
Bachelors degree in a job-related area.
Experience
:
Job related experience is desired.
Required Testing / Certificates and Licenses
:
Arizona Teaching Certificate;
Appropriately Certified in Core Content Area; SEI Endorsement Required; CPR Certificate;
First Aid Certificate;
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain district-sponsored training).
Continuing Education / Training and Clearances
: CPR, Criminal Background Clearance, CPI Certificate, and related requirements as applicable.
