SUMMARY

The Director for Community Education is responsible for preschool programs, before and after school programs (Madison Adventure Club) and MAC Camps during fall, winter, spring, and summer break. The Director for Community Education is responsible for promoting and fostering understanding and developing support for community education programs, including volunteer opportunities and volunteer partnerships with the community. The Director for Community Education coordinates fee-for-service vendors for after school enrichment classes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Focuses all decisions on student success as the first consideration in alignment with District goals and curriculum standards
  • Possesses knowledge of research, trends, and best practices in community education programs
  • Conducts advance planning, oversees research, compiles data, and analyzes the results to make recommendations for the successful implementation of Community Education programs
  • Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of all required reports and maintains all appropriate records
  • Organizes and maintains accurate records of revenues and expenditures of each assigned program; monitors all fiscal operations
  • Organizes and maintains accurate records for tuition-based full day kindergarten
  • Collaborates with the Director for Student Services to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the early childhood special education program
  • Collaborates with the employees responsible for community outreach
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources to coordinate school and district volunteers
  • Coordinates with the fee-for-service vendors who provide after school enrichment classes
  • Coordinates all camps hosted within the district
  • Coordinates outside organization requests for advertising or promotional materials
  • Communicates on a regular basis with principals, community education sites, and programs
  • Develops an ongoing communication plan with parents, community members, and community based organizations
  • Interacts with parents and community in a professional supportive manner
  • Maintains ongoing relationships between Madison School District with state and community agencies
  • Develops and implements an annual evaluation of each program for children, for parents, and for administrators
  • Facilitates and/or serves on District committees when requested or appropriate
  • Prepares reports for the Governing Board as needed
  • Continues the process of personal professional growth through attendance and participation in professional conferences, seminars and classes that support the district goals
  • Supervises assigned personnel, conducts annual performance appraisals and makes recommendations for appropriate employment actions
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in business or education or a related field from an accredited college or university;
    Master’s degree preferred
  • Supervisory/Administrative Certification preferred
  • Five years of successful experience in a related field
  • Three years of successful administrative or leadership experiences
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community education programs (preschool; before/after school care; volunteer programs)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, administrators and the community
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel
  • Demonstrates effective human relations skills
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with state, federal, and community agencies
