Position OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 3rd & 4th Grade Math & Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops scholars’ mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, and scientific inquiry skills.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making. This role requires a teacher who is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and fostering a positive, engaging classroom environment.
- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks for mathematics and science.
- Develop students’ foundational math skills including number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.
- Facilitate engaging science lessons that promote curiosity, experimentation, and evidence-based thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions.
- Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
- Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and engagement.
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and persistence in solving challenging problems.
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve instructional practices.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on STEM education and student achievement.
- Engage in ongoing reflection and data analysis to improve instructional effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
- Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
- Provide families with resources to support math and science learning at home.
- Valid teaching certification in a relevant subject area, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g., Education, Mathematics, Science, Elementary Education, or similar field), OR
- Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
- Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
- Possess strong analytical abilities and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
- Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
- Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
