SUMMARY: This position contributes to the District’s goal of preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s challenges by maximizing their options for life through academic and social growth; works with and supports teachers and administrators in areas of student conduct, student transportation, campus maintenance, campus cafeteria and all other support services for the campus/site.

SUPERVISES: All personnel serving the assigned school under the direction of the Site Principal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate
  • Five or more successful years teaching in grades K-8 grade
  • Masters Degree or higher in education or related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful teaching experience at various grade levels K-8
  • Experience supervising staff development and instruction

Such alternative to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent/Designee may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the principal in the general (overall) administration of the school
  • Assume Principal role in the absence of the Principal
  • Assist the Principal in working with the faculty to implement district and school mission, vision, goals and objectives, policies and administrative guidelines
  • Work with the Principal in establishing and maintaining a supportive relationship between the school and community
  • Assist the Principal in the supervision and evaluation of personnel assigned to the school
  • Assist with the preparation of teacher, parent and student handbooks and class schedules
  • Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance
  • Assists in the management of student conduct, oversee student disciplinary procedures and maintain and submit required reports to the Principal
  • Assists the principal in coordinating and supervising transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services
  • Assists the principal in preparation of requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and supplementary teaching materials and maintains a record of receipt and inventory of such materials
  • Work collaboratively with certified and support colleagues
  • Assist with extra-curricular and co-curricular programs of the school, such as scheduling of dances, assemblies and field trips
  • Assists the principal in planning, monitoring, and evaluation of school district programs
  • Maintain open lines of communication between school and district
  • Assist in the evaluation of the school’s testing results and other evaluative methods
  • Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrates a pattern of life-long learning, willingness to take risks, committed to professional collaboration, understanding of and experience with curriculum integration and alternative assessment, effective oral and written communication skills, experience in teaching adults, ability to foresee needs and take appropriate action, understanding and experience with facilitating educational change, experience using independent judgment to facilitate problem solving.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel.
