Location: Copper Canyon ES

Term: 9 months, 6 hours/day Grade: 15, $16.48/h

Purpose Statement

The job of CE Childcare Associate I is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of the referred students; assisting in the monitoring of behaviors; and communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators.

This job reports to CE Childcare Associate V.

Essential Functions
  • Administers first aid for the purpose of providing immediate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children.
  • Assists students as needed with diapering, toilet training, feeding, etc. for the purpose of addressing personal care needs.
  • Assists the site manager with age appropriate activities by working with individual or small groups of children (games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Communicates with internal for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information required to perform job functions.
  • Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually for the purpose of meeting mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations.
  • Distributes instructional and/or play materials for the purpose of providing required supplies.
  • Establishes positive individual relationships for the purpose of building student confidence and self esteem.
  • Implements under the supervision of assigned site manager, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing a safe, comfortable, supportive learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Maintains acceptable behavior standards for the purpose of ensuring that behavior is consistent with district and program policy.
  • Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (snack time, group or individual games, playground activities, quiet time, field trips, classroom, homework time, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Organizes quiet or active, age appropriate indoor and/or outdoor activities for the purpose of actively participating in the learning activities with children.
  • Prepares nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles, etc. for the purpose of complying with established guidelines.
  • Provides ongoing feedback for the purpose of informing supervisor, teacher, and parents of students' progress.
  • Transfers children directly from/to parents or designee for the purpose of ensuring safety of children and meeting the District requirements.
Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
  • Skills: preparing and maintaining accurate records, basic math, reading and following instructions, and understanding multi-step written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge: stages of child development; methods of motivating and controlling children; awareness of codes, regulations and laws related to counseling students.
  • Abilities: scheduling activities, gathering and/or collating data, using basic job-related equipment, flexibility to work with others, problem solving, providing direction and leadership, communicating with persons of varied backgrounds, maintaining confidentiality, adapting to changing priorities, working as part of a team.
