As a Dorm Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing students in the dormitory with a safe, clean, and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success.
Responsibilities- Serve as the lead case manager for residential students and provide personal counseling to enhance student employability, ensure continued enrollment, and qualified success in Job Corps.
- Supervise a dedicated Dorm Life team to provide services to assigned students.
- Train and assist students to become effective leaders who influence a positive Center culture.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.
- Coordinate staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised, including maintaining an active list of substitute Residential Advisors to fill staff vacancies and callouts.
- Interview, recommend for hire, discipline, recommend for termination, and evaluate the performance of employees in the Residential Department.
- Ensure all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.
- Oversee student dorm leadership program.
- Transport students to and from the Center as needed.
- Provide students with comprehensive and individualized case management ensuring student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.
- Establish supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment.
- Active member on case management and success teams to ensure student success in the program.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of incident and shift reports.
- Ensure the physical security of the dorm area and report concerns to senior management.
- Maintain adequate levels of inventory per established department reorder points and proactively order supplies to meet department requirements.
- Initiate work orders to make necessary repairs and follow-up with maintenance to ensure completion.
- Fill staff vacancies in a timely manner.
- Employ sound time-management and delegation skills; hold staff accountable for producing quality work, develop staff for career progression, and discipline staff that fail to meet goals.
- Provide required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
- Effectively motivate, empower, and require staff to perform their job responsibilities; motivate and manage staff to work effectively, create a supportive work environment, recognize staff accomplishments, and proactively address staff performance concerns.
- Develop Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training, and WBL. Promote a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establish meaningful relationships with elected officials.
- Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
- Provide transportation as required.
- Provide high-quality supervision and management for the student population; take swift and appropriate action and positively influence student behavior; show respect and courtesy to students and hold them accountable for their actions and behavior.
- Provide quality programs and services for students and ensure that quality is maintained and student needs are met; pursue improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
- Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contribute meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge.
- Provide quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
The Phoenix Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands‑on training in the various trades like Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Security and Protective Services, Cement and Masonry, Carpentry, and more.
