Job OverviewThe Salvation Army Kroc Center in Phoenix, AZ is looking to fill a Tee Ball Coach position. The qualified candidate must display integrity, enthusiasm, sound moral judgment and provide a safe, fun, and enjoyable learning environment for all participants. The Coach will teach beginners and intermediate learners in tee ball, communicate effectively with both small and large groups, and provide individualized feedback to participants.
Duties include creating, teaching, implementing, and demonstrating planned practices and performances, and writing and following class outlines. Other duties may be assigned as related to the position.
Teach tee ball to beginners and intermediate learners; prepare lesson plans, conduct practice sessions, provide feedback; oversee safety; maintain a positive environment; guide participants toward development; comply with health and safety regulations; collaborate with staff, parents, and caregivers.
Qualifications- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Working knowledge of sports such as volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, etc.
- At least one year of coaching or related sports experience.
- Ability to work with people and project a friendly, customer-service demeanor.
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
- Meet all Health Department and Salvation Army health & safety regulations.
- Good physical and mental health, capable of meeting demands of climbing wall, gymnasium, and athletic field programs.
- Philosophy oriented toward childhood education & development.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children, parents, and staff in leadership and mentoring roles – including sensitivity to children’s individual needs, use of positive corrective measures, dependability, crisis handling, and professional problem solving.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation. The job requires walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching with hands and arms continuously. Lifting: up to 20 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs frequently, up to 75 lbs occasionally. Vision: near, distance, color, depth perception, focus. Ability to operate telephone and computer.
