Position Summary
The Coordinator of Student Affairs is responsible for assisting in the coordination and management of all student affairs functions for students enrolled in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions at the Phoenix Health Science Campus, as well as hybrid programs at Regis University and University of Alaska Anchorage. This position coordinates student events, as well as advises student government and student organizations.
The position plays a key role in on‑boarding new students, including assisting with admission functions for deposited students and in‑person orientation. This position will collaborate with the Coordinator of Student Affairs in Omaha. Other duties as assigned.
- 25% New Student Orientation
- Assist with admission activities, Admitted Student Days, admitted student webinars, and tracking compliance for onboarding incoming students and ensuring matriculation.
- Lead and coordinate orientation in Phoenix, Regis, and University of Alaska, Anchorage. Partner with academic programs and university partners for their scheduling needs and student requirements during orientation.
- Maintain data to evaluate effectiveness of orientation activities
- 20% Student Events
- Lead the planning and implementation of SPAHP Class Council Officers
- Advise SPAHP student leaders in interprofessional events
- Collaborate with Student Life to support Interprofessional Olympics, Game Watch Parties, and other annual events
- Assist with White Coat and Commencement Ceremonies
- Advise PHPSG to host the annual Spring Banquet
- 30% Student Involvement and Leadership
- Advise Pharmacy and Health Professions Student Government
- Partner with the Student Leadership and Involvement Center to advise SPAHP-specific student organizations
- Provide leadership development training and guidance to student leaders
- Maintain data to report activities and evaluation of effectiveness of student programming
- Coordinate with colleagues regarding student leadership budget
- 20% Student Support
- Counsel students on non‑academic and personal matters, and refer them to appropriate resources
- Coordinate annual student engagement activities
- Attend SPAHP Faculty team meetings with the Assistant Dean
- 5% School Engagement
- Serve on school committees
- Participate in PHSC specific committees
- Partner with faculty on co‑curricular and student leadership/involvement needs, student wellbeing, and persistence
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Development, or Student Affairs
- 3 or more years of relevant higher education administrative experience.
- Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with multiple and diverse constituencies.
- Outstanding organization, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently and collaboratively without close supervision.
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to approach problems and consider alternative solutions.
- Ability to oversee and direct the work of others, if needed.
- Strong collaborative/teamwork ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Committed to creating and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, positive work environment for people from a variety of backgrounds and communities.
