Job SummaryThe Art Teacher role supports classroom instruction, student assessment, collaboration, and community engagement in a full‑time elementary setting.
Essential Functions- Administers developmental testing programs and subject assessments.
- Advices parents and legal guardians of student progress.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives and provides feedback.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, parents, and community resources.
- Counsels students for improved performance and health status.
- Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners.
- Differentiates classroom work for individualized instruction.
- Directs assistant teachers, instructional assistants, and volunteers.
- Facilitates student learning to achieve academic and life skills.
- Instructs students through defined courses of study.
- Manages student behavior for a safe learning environment.
- Monitors students in varied educational environments.
- Organizes indoor and outdoor activities for student participation.
- Participates on PLC team to review data and practices.
- Prepares written materials such as grades and anecdotal records.
- Reports health and safety issues to administrators and agencies.
- Responds to emergency situations and directs appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, and others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Performs other functions as needed to support the unit.
- Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field.
- Arizona Teaching Certificate with core content area endorsement.
- Proficiency in assessment instruments and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and technical information analysis.
- Ability to schedule activities, gather data, and utilize job‑related equipment.
- Problem‑solving skills and flexibility to work with diverse individuals.
- Experience with lesson plans, child development stages, and behavior management strategies.
- Experience with IEPs, 504s, and district policies.
- Continuing education and training to maintain certification.
Typical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. Standing 50%, walking 40%, sitting 10%.
Testing and LicensesArizona Teaching Certificate, SEI Endorsement, and Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
