Purpose StatementThe job of CE Childcare Associate I is to provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom. Responsibilities include implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of referred students; assisting in monitoring behaviors; and communicating observations to teachers, parents, and administrators. This job reports to CE Childcare Associate V.
Essential Functions- Administer first aid for ill, medically fragile, or injured children.
- Assist students with personal care needs such as diapering, toilet training, feeding, etc.
- Work with individual or small groups on age‑appropriate activities (games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, hand washing, etc.) to reinforce learning concepts.
- Communicate with internal staff to convey and receive required information.
- Complete a minimum of 18 hours of approved training annually to meet health regulations.
- Distribute instructional and play materials.
- Establish positive relationships to build student confidence and self‑esteem.
- Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under supervision.
- Maintain classroom equipment, work area, files, and records ensuring availability, safety, and compliance.
- Maintain acceptable behavior standards consistent with district policy.
- Monitor students in various settings (snack time, games, playground, quiet time, field trips, classroom, homework time, etc.) to ensure safety and positivity.
- Organize quiet or active, age‑appropriate indoor/outdoor activities.
- Prepare nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles according to guidelines.
- Provide ongoing feedback to supervisor, teacher, and parents.
- Transfer children directly from/to parents or designee for safety and district requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Basic math, read and follow instructions, understand multi‑step written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of child development stages, methods of motivating and controlling children, and awareness of counseling regulations.
- Ability to schedule activities, gather and collate data, and use basic job‑related equipment.
- Flexibility to work with others and operate equipment with standardized methods.
- Problem‑solving to identify issues and create action plans.
- Providing direction and leadership, communicating with diverse backgrounds, maintaining confidentiality, adapting to changing priorities, and working as part of a team.
Work under immediate supervision; lead, guide, and/or coordinate others; utilize resources from other work units as required.
Work EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The role requires no sitting, walking, or standing time; exposure to risk of injury or illness and a clean atmosphere.
