Job Summary
The Orthodontic Assistant supports the orthodontist in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting during orthodontic procedures, preparing treatment areas, educating patients, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.

Job Title:
Orthodontic Assistant
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as bonding, debonding, wire changes, and adjustments
- Prepare patients for treatment and ensure comfort throughout appointments
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards
- Take and process dental X-rays, photographs, and impressions
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions
- Manage and update patient records accurately
- Set up and break down treatment rooms before and after procedures
- Monitor orthodontic supplies and assist with inventory management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
- Provide friendly, professional patient interaction, especially with children and teens
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certification or training as a Dental/Orthodontic Assistant (preferred)
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, appliances, and procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with children and adolescents
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required depending on regulations)
Work Environment
- Dental/orthodontic clinic
- Prolonged standing and chairside assisting
- Use of dental instruments and equipment
Salary Description
$18.00-$25.00/hr
