The Multimedia Design Specialist supports Visual Merchandising Communications by creating, managing, and evolving installation guides and supporting content across both physical and digital platforms. This role is responsible for end-to-end creation of install guides—including printed documents and instructional videos—and for maintaining the internal digital hub where all guides are housed.
This position plays a key role in Pet Smart’s transition to fully digital VM communications, including helping shape an intuitive, scalable interface that can be deployed to store iPads over the next two years. The role bridges creative execution, technical documentation, and light front-end web support, ensuring content is clear, accurate, accessible, and easy to use in fast-paced store environments.
Key Responsibilities Installation Guides & Technical Documentation- Create clear, accurate installation guides for in-store VM execution (print and digital formats)
- Translate complex physical installs into easy-to-follow visual and video instructions
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand and VM standards
- Update and maintain existing guides as fixtures, processes, or programs evolve
- Plan, shoot, and edit installation and instructional videos
- Edit content for internal digital platforms and store iPad consumption
- Incorporate motion graphics or animation when helpful to clarify installs (nice to have)
- Maintain and update the internal website where VM guides are housed
- Support basic front-end updates, layouts, and content organization
- Partner with internal teams to help conceptualize and build a future‑ready digital interface for store iPads
- Ensure content is optimized for usability, accessibility, and real‑world store conditions
- Design clean, functional layouts with strong hierarchy and clarity
- Create technical visuals, diagrams, and step‑by‑step instructions
- Balance brand aesthetics with usability and operational efficiency
- Work independently as a self‑starter while collaborating cross-functionally with VM, Creative, and Digital teams
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Continuously look for ways to improve clarity, efficiency, and the store experience through better communication tools

Required Skills & Experience Web & Front-End- Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
- Ability to design and implement basic web layouts
- Comfortable updating and maintaining existing web pages and templates
- Able to collaborate with developers or work directly in front-end files when needed
- Strong eye for layout, hierarchy, and typography
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator);
Cap Cut experience a plus - Ability to create clear, functional visual systems
- Design approach that prioritizes clarity, usability, and accuracy
- Experience shooting and editing video for digital use
- Familiarity with instructional or how-to video formats
- Motion graphics or animation experience is a plus
- Experience creating technical visuals, diagrams, or installation guides
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to explain processes visually and logically
- Comfortable working with specifications, constraints, and real-world execution needs
- Self-starter with strong ownership mindset
