Position: Athletics - Trending Video Content Creator (FWS/NFWS)
** Purpose within the Organization:
** The Athletics - Trending Video Content Creator will primarily focus on producing creative, trend-driven Tik Tok and Instagram Reels content to showcase GCU’s NCAA Division I sports, student-athletes, fans, university/department mission and gameday atmosphere. This role will also assist with gameday coverage on social platforms, collaborating with the athletics communications staff to engage fans and grow online brand presence.
** Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities /

Essential Functions:

*** Assist in the ideation, creation, editing and posting of trending social media videos for GCU Athletics.
* Candidate has thorough understanding of and passion for sports and pop culture trends on Tik Tok and Instagram Reels.
* Research and pitch new ideas frequently with an understanding of platform algorithms and audience engagement strategies primarily on Tik Tok and Instagram. Content must align with the mission and values of GCU and the athletic department.
* Capture and edit behind-the-scenes and in-game moments, with a focus on fast, high-quality turnaround.
* Assist in live event coverage of home athletic competitions including capturing behind-the-scenes content for Instagram stories and creatively branding the content with specialized platforms.
* Assist in brainstorming and planning of social media strategy using content calendars.
* Assist athletics social media staff in other related tasks as assigned.
** Equipment Used and Responsibility:
*** Strong familiarity and knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, Tik Tok, Facebook), best practices and trends.
* Ability to shoot and edit engaging short-form video content using tools such as Cap Cut, Slate, or similar apps.
* Passion for and knowledge of sports is required.
* Background with social media monitoring and scheduling tools is preferred, especially Hootsuite.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* While professional-level camera skills are not required, a creative eye for capturing content on phones is needed.
* Athletic events are commonly on nights and weekends, so an understanding of working
** nontraditional hours
** is required.

** Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
* Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
* Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
* Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
* You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
