Role Description

This is a full-time on-site position based in Phoenix, AZ, for a Millwork Estimating Assistant.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Millwork Estimating assistant to join our team in Chandler, Arizona. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing project plans, preparing accurate estimates, and supporting office operations. This position requires strong technical skills in reading commercial blueprints and a collaborative mindset to assist with billing and organizational tasks. Design experience is highly valued and considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret architectural plans and specifications for commercial projects, including office buildings, restaurants, and banks, to generate precise millwork estimates.
  • Calculate material, labor, and production costs for millwork installations, ensuring estimates align with project budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to clarify details and refine estimates as needed.
  • Assist with billing processes, including invoice preparation, tracking payments, and maintaining financial records.
  • Support office organization by managing documentation, scheduling, and inventory tracking to ensure smooth operations.
  • Contribute to design discussions and provide input on millwork feasibility when applicable.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an estimating assistant or in a similar role within the construction or woodworking industry.
  • Strong ability to read and understand commercial building plans, blueprints, and technical drawings for office buildings, restaurants, and banks.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or associate degree in construction management, drafting, or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • Design experience in millwork or interior architecture, such as using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketch Up).
  • Knowledge of commercial construction standards and materials specific to millwork.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to enhance office efficiency.
  • Ability to help with production on larger projects or heavier workload is a plus.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in estimation techniques, experience with quantity takeoffs, and understanding of millwork project specifications.
  • Strong organizational and data management skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, project management tools, or CAD software is a plus).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for vendor correspondence and team collaboration.
  • Technical understanding of construction or millwork processes; familiarity with reading blueprints is advantageous.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team's success.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in construction, millwork, or estimating roles preferred but not mandatory.
