Safety Coordinator

Investigate accidents immediately upon notification and ensure the safety of field and office staff. Meet with customers to communicate our safety culture to maximize customer satisfaction and safety. Engage with field leaders on safety intensive work tasks. Train new hires and promote K2 safety culture.

• Assist Foreman & Tecs with Safety Specific Work Tasks, including executing and organizing Method of Procedures (MOP’s), hot work permits, field lock out/Tag out policies and power disconnect/reconnect permit documents for energized equipment, shutdowns, and other similar work tasks.
• Maintain and update document information throughout the process to completion.
• Verify installations meet safety, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Audit equipment and materials on job site visits for all shutdowns.
• Provide specialized training for field employees (e.g., equipment training, trench safety).
• Perform thorough weekly job site inspections on assigned projects with accurate documentation in site docs and Trello; oversee project safety representative if assigned.
• Ensure service field, Tucson, and office safety by staying updated on written safety policies and OSHA regulations; coach and train all employees in safety and promote a positive K2 safety culture.
• Conduct reviews of new team members, including 90-day reviews in site docs and award white hat; perform weekly site walks and inspections, monitor safety across sites, verify toolbox talks, pre-task plans, and report in Trello; participate in Safety Committee meetings and lead safety topics during leadership and FS meetings and annual safety conference.
• Maximize customer satisfaction and safety by meeting with general contractors and site personnel to communicate K2 safety culture and identify hazards to mitigate issues before incidents; develop strong working relationships with general contractors and superintendents; promote safety culture across the employee pool.
• Investigate accidents immediately upon notification by documenting interviews with employees, injured parties, and witnesses; notify the Safety Director within 24 hours and submit investigation paperwork; investigate near misses and develop corrective/prevention plans.
• Engage in other tasks and responsibilities as needed, including special projects, workforce development through teaching classes, maintaining inventory records for consumables, and tracking safety equipment check-in/check-out.

• Must have good command of the English language - verbal and written.
• Must have good trade & NEC knowledge.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
• Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
• Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of commercial construction safety experience.
• Commercial electrical experience preferred.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship preferred.
• OSHA & EPA standards in relation to construction.

• Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach over head – all for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing to work both indoors and out at all times of the year.
• Able to climb ladders (all types) and work from scaffolds and lifts.
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 51 pounds unassisted.
