Compensation: $130,000 to $170,000 base salary, depending on experience

Position OverviewA well-established civil construction contractor in the Phoenix area is seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to oversee and manage a large fleet of heavy construction equipment. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring regulatory compliance, controlling costs, and supporting field operations across multiple active projects.
The ideal candidate has a strong background managing large equipment fleets in a civil or heavy construction environment and is well-versed in DOT compliance and related regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain a large fleet of heavy civil construction equipment including earthmoving, paving, and support equipment
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime
- Coordinate equipment allocation and utilization across multiple projects and job sites
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, inspections, licensing, and documentation requirements
- Manage relationships with vendors, dealers, and service providers
- Track equipment costs, maintenance history, and replacement schedules
- Develop and enforce equipment policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Lead and support mechanics, shop personnel, and equipment coordinators as applicable
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and capital equipment planning
- Support field teams with equipment-related troubleshooting and logistics
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large fleets of construction equipment
- Civil, heavy highway, or infrastructure construction background strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of DOT compliance, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with fleet management systems and maintenance tracking software
- Proven ability to control costs while maintaining high equipment availability
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required
