Job Summary

Provide project management/field support services for wet utility projects (water, sewer, storm drain), including, but not limited to, budgeting, scheduling, tracking, procurement, document control, quality, and managing multiple projects.

Essential Functions
  • Read project contract and standard or special provisions as well as all project documents and client/customer requirements. Enforce the terms of the contract.
  • Approve construction master schedule, project budget, subcontract agreements, and monthly pay applications for work completed.
  • Attend progress meetings with owner/client and internal meetings to monitor the progress of work based on the construction schedule and address any issues/questions as they arise.
  • Control field costs, schedule, and quality to ensure project objectives are being met.
  • Complete project forecasts, cost to complete, anticipated profit, and close out documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation/development of the Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) through the development of the project specific approach.
  • Assist in the preparation/development of Alternative Project Delivery Methods (APDM), to include Design
    - Build (DB), Design-Bid-Build (DBB), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Job Order Contracting (JOC).
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and approval of Design Phase Services Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposal/budgets.
  • Participate in the pre-construction services management activities through scoping meetings, pre-bid meetings, design review meetings, comment resolution meetings, as well as reviewing all project documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining the flow of design documentation and pre-construction service deliverables.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Division Manager and other key team members by: attending construction progress review meetings on a regular basis, actively participating in discussions of any problem areas and recommendations for solving them, promptly informing Division Manager of unforeseen construction events and/or problems that can't be resolved with the owner/client, report to Division Manager monthly the actual estimate of the project costs versus the original estimate.

  • Handle all problems/issues quickly. All problems/issues must be brought into the open and resolved as soon as possible.
  • Anticipate and minimize potential negative problems with field activities, owner/employee attitudes, or other outside factors.
  • Promote and procure growth through Business Development.
  • Promote a site safety program to help maintain a safe site in compliance with company, client/customer and government requirements and regulations with the help of the Assistant Project Manager, General Superintendent, Superintendent, Foreman, and Safety.
  • Mentor the development of the Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in wet utility project management
  • Profitable project record
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs at a time
  • Attention to detail and high sense of urgency
  • Experience scheduling, forecasting, and submittals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Experience with B2W, Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to establish/maintain relationships with team members, contractors, officials, vendors, and other outside contacts
  • Team player
