Senior Mechanical Estimator

Location:

Phoenix, AZ. Reports to Chief Estimator and works closely with the Vice President of Estimating.

Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, detailed project estimates in alignment with company standards. This position requires advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, construction practices, and estimating tools.

Salary

Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr.

Core Responsibilities
  • Coordinate backlog and bidding priorities with leadership.
  • Participate in weekly estimating meetings to review bid opportunities.
  • Collaborate with junior estimators on plans, addenda, and bid documents.
  • Review specifications for discrepancies and approved materials.
  • Attend pre‑construction meetings for bid‑critical details.
  • Investigate remodel projects and verify existing conditions.
  • Analyze schedules for potential impacts (liquidated damages, overtime).
  • Complete accurate take‑offs and finalize bid recaps.
  • Prepare scope letters and identify value‑engineering options.
  • Maintain and enhance estimating software databases.
  • Prepare project budgets and turnover documents post‑award.
  • Support project managers and purchasing with clarifications and change orders.
  • Review contracts for scope alignment and exclusions.
  • Oversee junior estimator tasks, including bid logs and results.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of construction estimating experience (MEP focus required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Fast Est software preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Must work on‑site in Phoenix, AZ (no remote option).
Schedule & Job Type
  • Full‑Time | Monday–Friday | 8‑hour shifts.
  • Relocation to Phoenix, AZ required prior to start.
