Job SummaryThe Project Superintendent (PS) will plan, coordinate, and supervise field and/or administrative operations of construction projects. The PS will provide technical direction and oversee safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality. Responsibilities include scheduling labor, materials, and equipment, supervising subcontractors and field superintendents, and managing project budgets, schedules, and quality plans.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in reviewing shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders, and purchase orders.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop the project management plan (PMP), including scope, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety, and risk plans.
- Conduct weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors; prepare daily field status reports.
- Coordinate documentation of constructability issues, potential design conflicts, and clarifications.
- Develop and manage the construction plan for successful execution of work.
- Ensure work meets contract terms and is profitable.
- Interact effectively with owners, teams, and stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and client experience.
- Manage field operations, ensuring project success in profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and update the original CPM project schedule, maintaining schedule current and applying LEAN processes and weekly work plans.
- Prevent claims; identify potential claims, quantify, document, and mitigate or resolve them promptly.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project team members and subcontractors.
- Develop and implement the Project Quality Management and Safety plans per Sundt standards.
- Ensure timely completion of punch lists and develop a schedule for commission and startup of all systems.
Job Requirements
- Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Four‑year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, methods, negotiation, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety.
- Construction project and supervision experience in similar facility types.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and vest.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently; stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
- Use of telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices as needed.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders.
- Regular use of hands to grasp, lift, carry, or feel objects; load, push, or pull objects occasionally.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for entire shift duration.
