Position: Child Care Worker - Full-Time

Incumbents are responsible for providing quality childcare and instruction in a day care setting and may be responsible for adhering to ADHS codes and statutes.

Qualifications
  • Must have a fingerprint card, TB test, First Aid / CPR certification, and Food Handlers Card.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a licensed child care or preschool facility.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and assisting children with activities.
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public to exchange information and receive work instructions.
  • Providing care and instruction to promote academic and social/emotional growth.
  • Monitoring children's behavior and safety inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assisting with clean-up and related tasks after daily activities.
  • Preparing the classroom for activities, including creating lessons and materials.
  • Creating bulletin boards, maintaining materials and supplies, contacting parents, and making copies as needed.
  • Attending in-service training sessions.
  • Covering classrooms during staff absences.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and other sensory activities. Incumbents may be exposed to blood and body fluids.
  • Physical exertion may involve lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Knowledge of applicable district and departmental policies.
    • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
    • Ability to monitor and assist children with activities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
