Role OverviewAs a Sales Director, you will lead a team of senior sales professionals and/or sales managers, driving strategic planning and execution to maximize sales and profitability. This role involves developing and implementing both strategic and tactical sales and marketing plans, prioritizing opportunities to expand market share, and delivering actionable market insights. You will be responsible for maintaining and growing sales within a specific geographic area and/or product lines while identifying customer needs, generating leads, and crafting competitive strategies to drive business success.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement sales strategies and maintain a knowledge base of products.
- Deliver practical market insights and develop and implement tactical marketing plans including development of leads, customer needs and competitive strategies.
- Drive new business development through innovative strategic and tactical marketing plans.
- Research new markets and provide accurate data as input for sales plans and product development; determine product advantages, disadvantages, and substitution opportunities.
- Keep up-to-date on industry pricing trends and monitor competitive pricing in the area.
- Develop sales quotas and drive sales team to achieve goals.
- Coordinate sales activities with marketing, manufacturing, and customer service teams.
- Drive commercial excellence by understanding product margins, executing pricing strategies, and understanding customer business model and needs.
- Meet with customers to develop relationships and promote sales; periodically identify underperforming accounts, set targets, and reprice them as necessary.
- Contribute to development of value propositions and pricing strategies; assist with management and implementation of strategies within sales team.
- Implement and maintain systems related to commercial excellence and the Greif Business System to plan, track, and adjust commercial activities.
- Communicate goals and objectives, apply company policy, staff, train, coach, recommend salary increases, ensure positive colleague relations, and review performance of colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree and 12 or more years of experience including leading a large team of managers and senior individual contributors over multiple sites/locations.
