Position: Tax Staff Accountant

Job Duties

Under the direction of a supervisor, manager, director, and/or partner, the Tax Staff Accountant will perform the following diversified accounting, auditing, and consulting assignments:

Prepare a wide variety of federal, state, and local tax returns using Ultra Tax and Sure Prep to ensure accurate and efficient processing; provide guidance to clients and internal teams on tax compliance and planning strategies.

Use Fixed Asset CS, Engagement Manager, Go File Room , and Practice CS to streamline return preparation, manage engagement workflows, and maintain organized, accessible client records.

Develop quarterly tax projections, analyze financial data to assess liabilities, and identify client-specific tax-saving opportunities.

Support audits and regulatory compliance by preparing tax accruals, responding to tax authority inquiries, and maintaining accurate records of all filings and transactions.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Finance, or closely related. Employer will accept advanced degree if in the same field.

Experience Requirements:

6 months of experience in job offered, Audit Assurance, or closely related.

Special Skills Requirements:

Ability to prepare and maintain detailed, audit-ready work papers to support documentation requirements and internal quality standards, ensuring clear audit trails.

Experience with collecting financial data and addressing basic compliance questions, delivering timely and accurate information to support engagement needs.

Ability to assist in reviewing client financial data for completeness and consistency prior to engagement deliverables, supporting adherence to deadlines.

Experience with nonprofit accounting standards and documentation practices through participation in client engagements.
