VP Controller

Executive Recruiting for Accounting and Finance at Head Farmer, LLC

A well‑capitalized, institutional private equity real estate platform is seeking a VP, Controller to build and lead the accounting function for a rapidly scaling niche commercial real estate development and operating business
.

This is a newly created leadership role with full ownership of accounting, reporting, and controls across operating assets, large‑scale development projects, and complex fund structures. The position is based in Phoenix and reports directly to senior finance leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Build and lead a dedicated accounting organization supporting operating assets and ground‑up development projects
• Oversee property, fund, construction, and management company accounting
• Ensure accurate, timely reporting in accordance with US GAAP
  , lender, and investor requirements
• Design scalable internal controls, policies, and close processes
• Partner closely with development and acquisitions teams on construction accounting, budgets, forecasts, and loan draws
• Lead audits, tax coordination, and investor reporting
• Deliver clear financial insights to senior leadership in a fast‑growth environment

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive accounting / controllership experience
• Strong background in private equity real estate, development, or construction accounting
• Experience building or scaling accounting teams in high‑growth environments
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP

• Hands‑on leader with strong executive presence
