Alternatives, Inc. in Phillipsburg, NJ is looking to hire a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, Awake Overnight to support adults with developmental disabilities. This role offers a competitive wage and a range of benefits. Current available opportunity:
Fri, 10pm;
Sat, 10pm;
Sun, 10pm; 1pm shifts on weekends; 8am shift available. This is a full-time position with opportunities to make a positive difference in the community.
For over 40 years, Alternatives, Inc. has provided support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as those with mental illnesses. Services include residential support, behavior support, support coordination, and recreation. Our person-centered philosophy aims to enable clients to reach their highest level of independence and community integration. We operate 24-hour residential group homes across Warren, Hunterdon, Morris, Union, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties.
Responsibilities- As a DSP / Caregiver, assist adults with developmental disabilities in activities of daily living within residential group homes.
- Administer medications, cook meals, help with personal hygiene, and provide transportation to medical appointments as needed.
- Assist in implementing individual behavioral plans and use teaching/mentoring techniques to help clients learn new skills and achieve goals.
- Encourage participation in community outings and recreational activities based on individual preferences and plans.
- Report concerns about health and safety and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation.
We operate 24-hour residential group homes, offering a variety of shift options including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends. Examples include day shifts (7:00 am – 3:00 pm), afternoon/evening shifts (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm), and overnight (11:00 pm – 9:00 am).

- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred but not required
- Compassion, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to remain calm and professional
