Tenure Track Faculty Position, Renal, Electrolyte and Hypertension Division - Assistant Professor

The Division of Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of investigation of mechanisms of kidney disease. The successful candidate will be expected to develop, grow and maintain an independently funded research effort focused in this area.

The ideal candidate will have completed rigorous training, will have evidence of outstanding scientific productivity, and will have demonstrated success as an independent investigator. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Exceptional Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) applicants with a focus on kidney-related science will also be considered. Physician scientist candidates should be board certified/eligible in Nephrology.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, residents, or fellows, and participating in graduate student teaching within one or more inter-departmental, interdisciplinary graduate groups of the Biomedical Graduate Studies (BGS) program.

Clinical responsibilities for candidates who are physician scientists may include patient care on both inpatient consultative services and in outpatient nephrology clinical at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include studying the molecular and cellular basis of immunology, physiology, cell biology, metabolism, genetics or pathology, or applying modern experimental or discovery approaches to problems of kidney disease.
