As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam.
Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran, aiming to positively impact each Veteran through an exceptional examination experience.
Base + Incentive: $ – $ per year.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations: perform thorough, focused medical evaluations of Veterans, including medical history review, physical examinations, and assessment of the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel required to support other LSGS clinics.
- Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Veteran's medical history and health condition.
- Render objective medical opinions: based on examination findings, diagnostic results, and record review, provide unbiased, evidence‑based opinions regarding the extent of veteran health issues and impact on ability to work and daily activities.
- Work within the case‑management system, organizing workload, submitting findings, and corresponding with the Quality Assurance team.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights.
- Document examination findings in clear, concise reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations.
- Partner with all Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources for timely task completion.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.
- Submit thorough, accurate examination findings with the QA team.
- Maintain compliance with all VA training requirements and stay updated on all VA MDE program requirements.
- Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information and examination results in accordance with privacy and security protocols.
- All employees with access to patient data must understand HIPAA compliance and pass an annual assessment.
- Note:
This position does not involve prescribing or treatment planning.
- Education and licensing: graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program; valid and unrestricted PA license in the United States.
- At least 1 year of experience working as a Physician Assistant.
- Preferred: experience in conducting medical disability examinations or related field.
- Basic Life Support certification required, including renewals.
- Previous military experience or familiarity with military/veteran communities preferred.
- Specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous.
- Proficiency in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based opinions.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach toward patients and a patient‑centered evaluation process.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for interpreting complex medical information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
- Uphold ethical standards, maintain objectivity, and ensure fairness in evaluations.
- Detail‑oriented, focused on accuracy, data quality, and alignment with LS and VA standards.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; manage multiple initiatives quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong customer focus and a sense of urgency.
- Authorized to work in the United States and maintain any federal contractor requirements.
