Job SummaryWith minimal direct supervision, leads assigned crew in carrying out daily activities; performs work typically assigned to subordinates, as necessary. Interfaces most frequently with other water/wastewater department personnel; occasionally interfaces with other City departments and external public. Leads the activities of an assigned Public Works crew to carry out the work required in maintaining and repairing the City’s streets, grounds and ROW.
Sound working knowledge of street repair, to include asphalt, crack sealing, and pothole repair.
Salary is DOQ.
Essential Job Functions and Other Important Duties- Provide direction to assigned personnel; schedule crew assignments; assist with completing and reviewing all work performed by assigned crew; provide on-the-job training and oversight to less experienced personnel; provide input into crew member performance evaluations; may recommend disciplinary action.
- Oversee and assist crews that construct, repair and maintain City streets and channels; pour concrete; lay asphalt; dig trenches; level ground; clean out storm drains, clean streets.
- Assist crews with completing routine construction and maintenance of right of ways and other assigned City grounds; mow, trim, edge, plant, water, and fertilize ground covering and shrubs; plant and trim trees; pick up litter and other debris.
- Ensure assigned crew members comply with established operating standards and procedures, especially with regard to safety.
- Maintain City vehicles; clean inside and outside; perform maintenance checks before and after use; ensure proper storage of vehicles and vehicle keys.
- Maintain City tools and equipment in safe and effective operating condition; make minor repairs and adjustments as necessary; report unsafe or inoperable equipment to department management.
- Submit required reports regarding crew activities.
- Remains accessible via personal cell phone to address job-related issues or emergencies using City applications.

Formal
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relatable
Work Experience:
One (1) year of experience in placing hot mix with paver.
Training, Licenses, and
Certifications:
Valid Texas driver license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Willing to learn crack sealing operations.
Disclaimer:

One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
