The Controller at our client will oversee all accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. Reporting to the President, the Controller will manage financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, and operational analysis in a manufacturing environment. The Controller will provide data-driven insights to support company growth and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring proper recording of all transactions.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Prepare costing analysis reporting for both engineering and production programs.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the President and the Board of Directors.
Accounting Operations
  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), and Job Costing.
  • Maintain accurate job costing systems to track labor, materials, and overhead for manufacturing projects.
  • Partner with operations and production and engineering teams to ensure accurate project cost tracking and margin analysis.
  • Ensure accurate billing, collections, vendor payments, and expense management.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, payroll accounting, and cash flow management.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other applicable standards.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Act as a key financial advisor to the President, providing strategic guidance and analysis.
  • Prepare and present financial updates to the Board of Directors as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with operations leadership to ensure accurate job costing and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required;
    CPA preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment
    , including 3+ years in a leadership or Controller role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
    , financial reporting, and cost accounting.
  • Proficient with ERP/accounting software (Job Boss or equivalent) and advanced Excel.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
