Summary of Responsibilities
We’re looking for a Substation Engineer who’s ready to take ownership of complex electrical infrastructure projects and make a visible impact on the reliability and future of the power system. In this role, you’ll lead the engineering behind substation and transmission line projects—from early planning and design through construction support—while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities What You’ll DoAs a Substation Engineer, you’ll serve as a technical leader and trusted partner throughout the project lifecycle:
- Lead engineering project planning, scope development, design, and execution for electrical substation and transmission line projects
- Develop and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents in alignment with company, industry, and regulatory standards
- Oversee equipment and material specification, procurement, and engineering evaluations
- Support feasibility and conceptual studies, including cost estimates, schedules, scope definition, and documentation of assumptions and lessons learned
- Provide technical support during construction, partnering closely with Project Managers and Construction Managers to resolve field issues
- Review and provide technical oversight of work performed by internal engineering staff and external consultants
- Mentor and develop junior engineers through coaching, training, and design reviews
- Manage external engineering contracts, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to contract terms
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver customer-focused, results-driven solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems emphasis preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
- Experience in transmission, distribution, power generation, or design engineering
- Strong understanding of cross-functional collaboration and business acumen
- Proven ability to manage and review work performed by external engineering consultants
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailored to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to interpret and apply codes, standards, regulations, and technical documentation
- Strong project management and prioritization skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Willingness to be coached, adapt to change, and challenge conventional thinking to find better solutions

The targeted base pay for this position is $119,500 to $139,400 annually.
