Overview
Under general supervision, the primary responsibility is providing classroom instruction in the EMS programs offered by WCTC or clinical instruction in the hospital and clinical setting for EMT and Paramedic courses. Requires strong organizational skills, good communication skills, an ability to effectively deliver practical hands-on instruction and include technology in the teaching of classes, and familiarity with all aspects of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services fields.
Must be accessible to students and maintain positive relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses. The successful applicant will be responsible for completing requirements to obtain and maintain a current teaching certification from the Wisconsin Technical College System Board. Salary:
Classroom Lab and Clinical Instruction $40/hour;
Non-instructional $20/hour.

Responsibilities- Provide classroom instruction for EMS programs and clinical instruction in hospital/clinical settings for EMT and Paramedic courses.
- Deliver effective hands-on instruction and integrate technology into teaching.
- Maintain accessibility to students and cultivate positive relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses.
- Complete requirements to obtain and maintain current teaching certification from the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.
- Engage in activities aligned with department strategic goals to support program quality and student success.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with education or training relevant to the occupational area being taught. Educational equivalency may include occupational experience totaling 7 years or 14,000 hours. Each academic credit equals 110 hours of occupational experience.
- Twenty-four months (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience in the occupational area, with 2,000 hours within the previous five years. One year (2,000 hours) of related experience may be waived if the instructor has two years of post-secondary teaching experience within five years.
- EMS Instructors:
Current Wisconsin DHS EMS Instructor I certification at the EMT level (Paramedic preferred) or ability to obtain at time of hire. - EMS instructors:
Current Wisconsin EMT licensure (or equivalent, including RN, PA, or physician). Paramedic preferred. - Eligibility for WCTC Credentialing System.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and instruct quality education programs.
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor preferred.
- Technology-based, simulation, and scenario-based instruction experience desirable.
Note:
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
This is a continuous posting. Applications will be reviewed on November 1 and June 1 each year. Teaching demonstrations/interviews will be held shortly after.
Hours for this position will vary from Monday through Sunday, including both daytime and evening hours. Adjunct instructors are expected to teach a minimum of 64 hours/semester (24 hours/summer). Instructors request instructional assignments through scheduling software at the beginning of each semester.
