• Unit: 2 South Medical-Surgical Unit (28 beds) – acute care, post-op and telemetry patients
• Contract Type: Travel nursing assignment

• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (Med/Surg RN, day shift)

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Seeking an experienced Med/Surg travel nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Petoskey, MI — ideal for RNs with strong surgical and acute care skills who want Michigan travel nursing opportunities.

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical RN experience (required)
• Active Michigan RN license (verification via LARA and Nursys required)
• BLS (AHA) required
• Completed skills checklist for Med/Surg specialty within the past year
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred (travel RN, travel nurse assignments)
• Must be eligible for travel nursing contract (full-time employees of this health system are not eligible within six months of employment)

• Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse Med/Surg population including general/vascular surgery, bariatric, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients
• Provide post-operative and perioperative nursing care, wound management, and clinical monitoring for acute and elective surgical patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams (physicians, CNAs, therapists, case managers) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Perform comprehensive assessments, medication administration, documentation, and patient/family education using clinical pathways
• Demonstrate effective time management, prioritization, and adaptability in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Participate in shared governance, continuous quality improvement, and ongoing professional development
• Adhere to attendance and reliability standards to ensure continuity of patient care
• Facility Attendance Policy: This facility enforces a strict 3-strike attendance policy. Any combination of tardiness or unexcused absences reaching three strikes may result in contract termination. Exceptions are reviewed only for documented communicable disease or hospitalization, with supporting medical evidence required for consideration.
