Job Description

Overview
Northern Staffing Services is seeking a dedicated 2nd shift Sanitation/Equipment Maintenance Technician for a well established company in Petoskey, MI. This is a full-time position starting at $18.50/hour + $1.50 shift premium. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in various work environments. This position will focus on equipment operation including sanitation of key areas of the equipment and identification of equipment discrepancies such as mechanical, electrical or safety concerns.

This position will also assist in keeping the machinery, mechanical equipment, and facilities in good repair and in safe and proper operation. Duties will include preventative maintenance and repairing equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing of new equipment, Sanitation and startup and general repairs.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure an environment for Industrial Safety and Food Safety including but not limited to Lock Out practices, Equipment Operator Training Certifications, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures, and other Good Manufacturing Practices.

- Practice and encourage safe work habits and report any unsafe conditions. Understand, support, implement, and ensure compliance to all company and governmental agencies safety policies, procedures and regulations.

- Mix or otherwise prepare all cleaning and sanitizing chemicals according to manufacturer specifications as required to support manufacturing activities

- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills
- Experience in custodial, warehouse, or food production environments
- Proficient in commercial and industrial cleaning practices
- Ability to clean, sanitize, and disinfect effectively
- Familiarity with food processing sanitation requirements
- Capable of heavy lifting tasks
