Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Gastroenterologist to fill a locum position starting March 1, 2026. The role involves performing outpatient and inpatient endoscopies, including ERCP procedures, within a hospital environment. You will work alongside a collaborative team of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, supporting patient care through comprehensive endoscopic services, consults, and procedures. This position offers a structured weekday schedule with 24-hour weekend call coverage, providing a balanced work-life dynamic in the scenic locale of Petoskey.

Required Skills

• Board-certified or eligible in Gastroenterology
• Proven proficiency in ERCP procedures
• State medical license and DEA license in Michigan or ability to obtain prior to start
• Excellent diagnostic, procedural, and patient communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with hospital staff and colleagues
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience working in a hospital clinic setting
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR system
• Prior locum or hospital-based practice experience
• Additional certifications in advanced endoscopy or related areas

Preferred Education and Experience

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology
• Minimum of 2 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in GI practice
• Prior ERCP experience highly preferred

Other Requirements

• Availability to start on March 1, 2026
• Ability to perform approximately 18 outpatient and 20 inpatient scopes daily within scheduled hours
• Compliance with hospital policies, including onsite lab and X-ray services
• Usage of Cerner EMR for documentation and patient management
• Willingness to cover scheduled weekend call and participate in holiday shifts at enhanced pay rates
• Travel expenses covered in accordance with policy, with no third-party lodging bookings
