Care Companion
Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia
PRN, Days (Two twelve hour shifts during the weekdays and one twelve hour shift on weekends every six weeks minimum; 36 hours every six weeks required from 7AM to 7PM; Holiday rotation when needed)

• Provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional.
• Sanitizes and cleans patients’ rooms, monitors patients’ health and vital signs, and assists patients with basic needs like feeding and grooming.
• Provides support to the patient including, but not limited to, care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
• Creates a safe environment for patients.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patients’ family, visitors and all employees.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from the approved source prior to direct patient care)

• Recent experience in a healthcare environment (preferred, not required)

• Possesses problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
• Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
