Behavioral Mental Health Tech – Poplar Springs Hospital
Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183-bed acute care and residential facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. For more than 30 years the hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. The facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through acute programs, adolescent residential programs, and programs for active duty military.
New Opening: We have a new opening for a Behavioral Mental Health Tech.
Responsibilities- Assist in providing safe, effective patient care under the direction of the Program Director/Manager and Unit Charge Nurse.
- Direct patient care using Home‑Weight Care (HWC), CPR, and crisis/safety techniques.
- Mentor new hires and students in unit routines.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned.
- Model respectful, compassionate behavior for patients and residents.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing (preferred).
- CPR certification (preferred, offered on‑site).
- Handle‑With‑Care certification (preferred, offered on‑site).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
- Strong communication skills; able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Basic clerical skills and computer knowledge helpful.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to accept feedback.
- Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
