Responsibilities

Dietary Aide

Poplar Springs Hospital is an acute care and residential facility dedicated to behavioral health services. The Dietary Aide supports the patient meal program by preparing, cooking, and serving foods, managing inventory, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen area. This role involves stocking and serving on the tray line, dishwashing, organizing storage areas and freezers, and ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory food service standards.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • High school education or GED required
  • Valid Driver’s license strongly preferred.
  • Serv Safe Certification preferred.
  • Institutional cooking experience preferred.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements.

General Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
