This position description provides information about the role and the facility to support candidates in understanding the position and the department.
ResponsibilitiesHWDMC is a 94-bed medical facility that provides acute medical diagnosis, skilled, intermediate and long-term care to individuals receiving services in facilities operated by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, as well as individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities within the community.
Responsibilities include exceptional knowledge of the principals and practices of patient management, preventive and corrective dentistry and oral hygiene; ability to diagnose and treat dental deficiencies; ability to effectively communicate and maintain accurate records and provide in-service training.
Demonstrates an awareness of and response for coworkers and individuals’ cultural background. Incorporates the individuals’ cultural background and values in methods of communication and services.
If selected for this position, you must have a valid Virginia Dentist license by your start date.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia in Dentistry. Controlled substances registration required. Graduation from an approved dental school.
- Demonstrates an awareness of and response for coworkers and individuals’ cultural background. Incorporates the individuals’ cultural background and values in methods of communication and services.
- A valid VA Dentist license must be present by start of employment.
Additional Considerations
- Experience in the field of dentistry coupled with experience in working with special needs patients preferred.
