About the role:

We’re looking for a reliable and experienced Multi‑Skilled Operative to join our team, supporting a busy responsive repairs and damp and mould contract in Peterborough. This is a hands‑on role delivering a wide range of repairs and maintenance works across social housing properties, helping to keep residents’ homes safe, compliant and well maintained. There is a strong focus on direct delivery, with specialist subcontractors used only where required for scaffolding and asbestos‑related works.

Recent changes following Awaab’s Law have increased expectations around quality, compliance and aftercare, making skilled and dependable operatives essential to the successful delivery of the service.

Working mainly in occupied properties, you’ll attend day‑to‑day responsive repair jobs covering carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and basic decorating. No two days are the same, so you’ll need to be adaptable, organised and confident working across multiple trades, while delivering a high standard of workmanship first time and providing excellent customer service. This is a great opportunity to join a team that takes pride in improving homes and making a real difference within the community, and we’re looking for someone dependable, customer‑focused and committed to doing the job right.

Duties:
  • Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties, including damp and mould‑related works
  • Complete multi‑trade works including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating
  • Repair or replace skirting boards, architraves, internal door frames, doors, locks, hinges.
  • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors
  • Identify and resolve minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks
  • Carry out patch plastering and make good to damaged walls and ceilings
  • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
  • Undertake painting and decorating to a professional standard following repair works
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with current standards
  • Work respectfully within occupied properties, considering residents’ needs and privacy
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents’ homes
  • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
  • Report any additional works, safeguarding concerns or property issues outside the original scope
  • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order
