Overview

We are looking to strengthen our Commercial team with a Project Commercial Manager based at our Peterborough office with hybrid working available. As our new Projects Commercial Manager you’ll be accountable for the commercial and cost management for the project from inception to close out reporting directly to the Project Director.

Using your expertise and commercial nous, you’ll challenge current commercial thinking and agreements. You’ll work with the Project Director and their team on all project matters as you look to leave a positive and lasting impression across the Alliance.

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and makes due allowance for all risks and opportunities.
  • Manage the procurement process ensuring that all strategies are developed and agreed and that tender processes are followed correctly.
  • Subcontractors are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including: compliance, communications, payments, compensation events and programme submissions.
  • Ensure robust cost management is undertaken at all times including: accurate live forecasting and actual costs vs estimates.
  • Ensure that accurate and trusted records are kept so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
  • Continually strives to develop processes and procedures to ensure standardisation across the commercial teams delivery process
  • Looks to develop members of the team with commercial knowledge and experience gained over numerous years in industry.
Qualifications

Educated to Degree/HNC level or equivalent. RICS/CIOB/CICES

Delivery of multiple and or complex projects ranging in values from £100k to multi-million pound projects with experience of the following:

  • Managing/Leading a team
  • Contract administration (working with NEC suite of contracts)
  • Managing change
  • Procurement
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Negotiation
  • Estimating
  • Stake Holder management
  • Acts as the commercial conscience of the IPL, challenges delivery team
  • Operates fairly, honestly and with integrity
  • Champions collaboration and open communication
  • Value for Money mindset
  • Takes ownership and leads with a strong commercial focus on out performance and contractual requirements, showing an ability to work under pressure whilst supporting the team
  • Capable of building strong personal relationships through a supportive empathetic style to enable the formation of high performing teams – Listens, understands and adjusts
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to create strong relationships with key stakeholders within the organisation and to influence decision making
  • Creates drive and momentum to deliver
