Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Stepped Care Therapy Team within Older People’s Mental Health Services in Peterborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with older adults in a secondary mental health setting, supporting their psychological wellbeing while developing a diverse range of clinical skills.
Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive psychological assessments, formulations and evidence‑based interventions, including specialist neuropsychological assessments where appropriate.
- Provide consultation and guidance to non‑psychology colleagues and contribute to multidisciplinary teams across mental and physical health services.
- Supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other practitioners, including Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
- Maintain accurate record keeping for all practitioners supervision using the agreed information systems.
- Develop and maintain psychosocial models of care and suggest/implement policy changes within the service.
- Attend service meetings, liaise with Professional Leads, supervisors and managers, and utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development.
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, BPS accredited, including models of psychopathology, neuropsychology and at least two distinct psychological therapies.
- HCPC registration, or application for registration.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment across a range of settings (outpatient, community, inpatient).
- Post‑doctoral training in specialised areas such as neuropsychology, DBT, CAT, systemic or family therapy.
- Training in supervision of trainees and other therapists.
- Experience in research, audits and teaching across a Trust.
- Advanced skills in psychological assessment and intervention, requiring sustained concentration.
- Strong organisational, time‑management and caseload planning skills.
- Effective communication with clients, families and multidisciplinary teams, handling sensitive information.
- Knowledge of clinical governance, supervision and professional standards.
- Motivation for personal and professional development with a strong CPD record.
Travel independently around the county is required; a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Pay and ContractPermanent, part‑time role. Band 7 salary range £47,810 to £54,710 a year pro‑rated.
