We are looking for enthusiastic applicants who would like to work in the challenging and changing world of sterilisation and decontamination, within the Sterile Services Department (SSD) at Peterborough City Hospital.
About SSDSSD is responsible for the complete decontamination of surgical instrument sets and flexible endoscopes used by the Clinicians within the Trust, and external customers, making the service we provide a vital one.
We are looking for a hard-working, confident and capable individual to work in a busy but friendly environment, where staff take pride in what they do.
Main duties- Work well within a team or independently and unsupervised.
- Have a good standard of literacy and numeracy; good communication skills, be well organized and able to work under pressure.
- Full training will be given on all aspects of the department, including ISO
13485:2016 quality systems. - Role involves heavy lifting/manual handling, exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and working with chemicals and machinery.
- No involvement with patients.
Department is open:
Monday – Friday 06:00 – 19:15;
Saturday & Bank Holidays 07:30 – 16:00. The post holder will need to demonstrate flexibility to cover shift variations to meet changing service demands.
Essential
Education/Qualifications- Good standard of literacy
- Must be able to read and write to a good standard
- NVQ Level 3 Health - Decontamination (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working to deadlines to meet customer needs
- Previous SSD experience
- Previous experience of working in a factory, or production-focused environment
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
