Job Summary
The post holder will assist the Trust's professional lead (Trust Fire Safety Manager) with all fire-related issues at all Trust properties. They will provide technical and general fire safety advice and complete detailed fire risk assessments in accordance with HTM
05 part K and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, including delivery of face-to-face fire safety training for Trust staff and contractors. The post holder will take a comprehensive approach to ensure fire safety issues are recognised, planned, and implemented appropriately.
The post holder will use sound judgement and communication skills where there are significant barriers to acceptance, overcoming them using high levels of interpersonal and communication skills, such as in hostile or highly emotive situations. Reporting to the Trust Fire Safety Manager (TFSM), the primary focus is to manage the fire risk assessment audit system and the delivery and output of all staff and contractor fire safety training.
Mainduties
The post holder will act as Fire Safety Advisor across Peterborough, Stamford, Hinchingbrooke Hospitals and community sites. They will ensure all projects comply with fire safety legislation and support the development, monitoring and review of the Trust's fire action plan. They will attend internal incidents when required and complete fire risk assessments in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, maintaining accurate records and reports.
They will support inspections by local fire authorities, review recommendations, and oversee remedial actions. The role includes monitoring fire-related equipment maintenance, advising managers on fire safety matters, and ensuring correct placement of firefighting equipment and signage. They will respond to fire alarms, assess staff actions, and investigate fire-related adverse events.
The post holder will attend helicopter movements at PCH and lead on fire safety training, delivering induction, refresher and specialist sessions for all staff groups and contractors. They will maintain training records, support compliance targets, and assist with fire champion training. They will work with Fire and Rescue Services on joint exercises and advise managers on their responsibilities under fire safety legislation.
The post holder will deputise for the TFSM during periods of absence.
Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust's redeployment process.

Person SpecificationEssential
Education and Qualifications- HNC, HND, master's degree or equivalent in Estates, Facilities, Health & Safety or fire safety related subject as detailed below
- Membership of a professional organisation such as Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Member of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (MIFPO)
- Track record of fire safety experience in a healthcare or related organisation

- Fire Engineering qualification (Morton or MODFS)
- NHS fire safety qualification
- NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
- Teaching certificate
- Corporate membership of a professional organisation, (MIFireE or MIOSH)
