You will be a valued member of our team, and while previous experience of Sterile Services and decontamination practices is desirable, full training will be provided on all aspects of the department and ISO
13485:2016 quality systems.
This role involves heavy lifting/manual handling, exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and working with chemicals and machinery. There is no involvement with patients.
The candidate must demonstrate flexibility in their approach to cover shift variations to meet the ever-changing demands of the Service Users.
About the Department and RoleWe are looking for enthusiastic applicants to work in the challenging and changing world of sterilisation and decontamination within the Sterile Services Department (SSD) at Peterborough City Hospital. SSD is responsible for the complete decontamination of surgical instrument sets and flexible endoscopes used by clinicians within the Trust and external customers, making the service we provide vital.
We are seeking a hard-working, confident and capable individual to work in a busy but friendly environment where staff take pride in what they do.
Responsibilities- Decontamination of surgical instrument sets and flexible endoscopes in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Operate and maintain sterilisation equipment and related machinery.
- Ensure compliance with ISO
13485:2016 quality systems and Trust policies. - Maintain accurate records and data related to decontamination processes.
- Work collaboratively with Clinicians within the Trust and with external customers.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and manage heavy lifting/manual handling responsibilities.
- Cover shifts as required to meet service demands (flexibility in approach).
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Well organised with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Previous experience in Sterile Services and decontamination is desirable; full training will be provided.
- Ability to cover shifts to meet changing service demands.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to ISO
13485:2016 quality systems.
Monday – Friday 06:00 – 19:15
Saturday & Bank Holidays 07:30 – 16:00
