To provide a high‑quality, efficient, and evidence‑based Child and Adolescent Psychiatry service in close collaboration with multi‑disciplinary colleagues. The post holder will primarily deliver mental health care and undertake neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people within the Neurodevelopmental CAMHS care pathway. In addition, they will work flexibly across core mental health pathways to support ongoing CAMHS transformation within CPFT.

The service accepts referrals from the Peterborough and South Lincolnshire areas in line with national guidance. The post holder is expected to comply with local and national directives for managed medical personnel and ensure full adherence to NHS and Trust policies.

The post‑holder will provide medical leadership to the North Neurodevelopmental CAMHS (Autism and learning disability) team within the Integrated Children's Service, working closely with Consultant colleagues in CAMHS and Paediatrics, CAMHS MDTs and alongside Managers.

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • Provide medical leadership to the North Neurodevelopmental CAMHS (Autism and learning disability) team within the Integrated Childrens Service, working closely with Consultant colleagues in CAMHS and Paediatrics, CAMHS MDTs and alongside Managers
  • Provide Consultant Psychiatrist level clinical assessment and treatment to children and young people presenting neurodevelopmental concerns. In addition to being part of the diagnostic and neurodevelopmental formulation team, the post holder will provide outpatient clinics for assessments and treatment for children in the neurodevelopmental pathway with additional mental health comorbidity.
  • Work flexibly and manage clinical complexity, including working with young people with comorbid mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Attend and help shape team meetings to ensure robust clinical governance activities are maintained including appropriate CPD slots, arranged by the Team Manager in collaboration with senior clinicians.
  • Link with Home treatment team and the crisis team this will include supporting STR workers to formulate cases and plan patients care as the patients Tier 3 consultant.
  • 2.5 Programmed Activities (or pro‑rata) are allocated for CPD, audit, clinical governance, supervision, research and other supporting professional activities.
