After completing a comprehensive 6‑week training program, Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm, you will work overnight shifts providing the first point of contact for patients.
- First Contact – manage urgent and non‑urgent cases, providing essential medical advice.
- NHS Pathways Software – assess patients’ conditions and direct them to the appropriate healthcare professional or service.
- Advanced Training – use advanced listening and probing skills to ensure every patient receives clear advice and is signposted correctly.
Note:
training is 6 weeks, 9 am–5 pm regardless of contracted hours.
Training: 6 weeks, Monday‑Friday, 9 am–5 pm.
Assessments: 3 Feb 2026 and 4 Feb 2026, online at 11 am.
Start dates (subject to pre‑employment checks): 16 Feb 2026, 2 Mar 2026, 13 Apr 2026.
Person specificationEssential
- Lives within a 60‑minute commute to the role.
- Has customer service experience.
- Has the right to work in the UK.
- Can commit to 6 weeks full‑time training (9 am–5 pm, Monday‑Friday).
Desirable
- Previous call handling experience.
111 Call Handlers may provide healthcare while working under the direction or supervision of regulated healthcare professionals. If this is in place, the call handler will be in regulated activity with children and adults and so an Enhanced DBS check in the child and adult workforce with both Barred Lists checks can be requested.
